As the Event Director, in May 2021, Sherryl launched a Canadian musical heritage project called, “Fiddles on the Rideau”. This was created for three reasons: 1) to raise awareness about National Fiddling Day in Canada. On the third Saturday in May each year, fiddlers come together to celebrate National Fiddling Day. It is in the interest of all Canadians to become more familiar with the traditional and contemporary importance of fiddling, to Canadian Heritage and Canadian Society. 2) To raise awareness and financial support for a local mental health organization in Ottawa, “Rideauwood Addictions & Family Services, and 3) to bring joy back into the hearts of people, to make positive connections and to heal our hearts by sharing our gift of music with others. Three events were held over the summer of 2021 and we managed to raise close to $3,000 for Rideauwood Addiction and Family Services.
